The Chambersburg Public Opinion reports that its police force does not routinely target illegal immigrants. Law enforcement has found that illegal immigrants may be reluctant to report crime because of their illegal status.
The officers do point out that where a person’s status is a part of a crime or a relevant part of a criminal investigation, they will report to ICE (the post-9/11 department that replaced INS).
