In Arizona, defense attorneys are arguing that the software code used in the Intoxilyzer 8000 has made the device unreliable. Although CMI, the company that makes the Intoxilyzer 8000, insists that its product is reliable, it has acquired over one million dollars in fines in the state of Florida for failing to comply with court orders requesting the code.

The Intoxilyzer 8000 is currently approved blood alcohol testing equipment in Pennsylvania.
