In the News: Philly man spends 2 years for failing to pay child support for a child that wasn’t his

Walter Andre Sharpe, Jr. spend a total of two years in prison for falling behind on child support. The problem is that Mr. Sharpe was a victim of mistaken identity. In 2001, Sharpe, a Philadelphia resident, was ruled to be the father of a child in Dauphin County. When Sharpe requested DNA testing, the court denied his request. The court has refused Sharpe’s request to have the $12,000 he paid in child support refunded.
