In the News: FBI piloting system to report interstate DUIs
The Federal Bureau of Investigations is currently working on a system that will permit state agencies to determine whether DUI suspects have pending DUI charges in other states. Under current systems, only defendants who have been fingerprinted or otherwise entered into the system are flagged as having pending DUI charges. With the new program, states that opt in would have access to a database that would include pending DUI charges from other participating states. With this information, judges will be able to require higher bonds for defendants with pending DUI charges.
