With the current legislative term ending next month, several DUI bills will end up dying in Harrisburg. However, lawmakers vow to resubmit the bills next year.

One bill, submitted by state senator Barry Stout, would allow the state to seize the vehicles of intoxicated drivers. Another bill sponsored by state representative Keith Gillespie would charge any repeat offender previously charged with homicide by vehicle while intoxicated with a felony. State representative Rob Kauffman wrote a bill requiring alcohol testing for all drivers involved in a fatal crash. State senator Jane Orie and state representative Paul Clymer both sponsored legislation that would require ignition interlock devices for first-time DUI offenders.
