Starting January 1st, California’s DUI laws will be more strict. For offenders who are on probation for a DUI, a blood alcohol reading of .01% or higher will place them in violation. The new provisions also lower the blood alcohol level needed for a court to require that an interlock device be placed on the offender’s vehicle. Previously, the offender’s BAC had to be at or above .20%. Now, a court can require interlock if the offender’s BAC is at or above .15%.
